Funing District is a major production area for “Yanshan Chestnuts” and “Bohai Bay Apples.” The chestnut and apple industries are the district’s key forestry‑fruit sectors, with their cultivated acreage accounting for 73.7% of the district’s total fruit‑tree planting area. Chestnut cultivation is concentrated in the northern mountainous region along the Great Wall, in Taiying Town and Daxinzhai Town, where the soil is relatively infertile.
