The company has purchased and stored 8,000 tons of fresh chestnuts this year, generating 170 million yuan in sales revenue from January to November; annual sales are projected to reach 210 million yuan. On December 30, inside the premises of Qinhuangdao Yanshan Chestnut Co., Ltd., located in the Qian’ao Logistics Park of Funing District, workers were busy packing chestnuts into boxes. According to Ma Zhiyong, the company’s executive deputy general manager, the processed chestnuts are not only sold domestically but are also exported to Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other countries and regions. With their plump, full kernels, Yanshan chestnuts have won the hearts of overseas consumers.

Qinhuangdao Yanshan Chestnut Food Co., Ltd. is located in the Qian’ao Logistics Park of the Fuping District Economic Development Zone in Qinhuangdao City. Established in 1996, the company occupies a site of 24,000 square meters and features chestnut preservation warehouses, low-temperature storage facilities, a production workshop for diversified chestnut products, and supporting production infrastructure. With a well‑established management system and a robust R&D team, it is a privately owned joint‑stock enterprise with a registered capital of RMB 20 million and total assets of RMB 130 million. The company is recognized as a core, export‑oriented enterprise in Qinhuangdao’s chestnut processing industry, a key exporter, and a provincial leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization.

The company collaborates with the Changli Fruit Tree Research Institute of Hebei Province and the New Rural Development Research Center of Hebei Normal University of Science and Technology to develop chestnut‑based production bases and launch a diversified range of chestnut‑related products, thereby transforming Fuping’s chestnut industry from one that relied solely on the sale of raw chestnuts. The company holds a food production license and has, year after year, obtained ISO 9001 quality management system certification, HACCP food safety management system certification, China Organic Product Certification, HALAL certification, dual JAS organic certification for both its chestnut farms and processing facilities in Japan, dual NOP organic certification for its chestnut farms and processing facilities in the United States, registration as an export‑oriented food enterprise, and U.S. FDA registration.

The company has spearheaded the development of 48 chestnut‑cultivation bases across the region, bringing the total area under chestnut cultivation to nearly 200,000 mu, including 48,000 mu of organic chestnut farms. Adopting a “company–base–cooperative–farmer” business model, the company is firmly rooted in the chestnut industry, using chestnut cultivation as its foundation and deep processing and marketing as its driving force to boost farmers’ incomes and help them achieve prosperity. Each year, it supports 20,000 farming households and creates more than 500 jobs. Direct income gains for farmers exceed RMB 26 million annually, while employment opportunities and related ancillary industries generate social and economic benefits totaling over RMB 30 million.
