Qinhuangdao Yanshan Chestnut Food Co., Ltd. is located in Funing District, Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province, in the eastern section of the Yanshan Mountains. To the east, it borders Shanhaiguan—the starting point of the Great Wall; to the south, it adjoins the Bohai Sea; and to the north, it rests against the Yanshan Range. It is China’s principal chestnut-producing region, where the landscapes of the Yanshan Mountains and the Bohai Sea seamlessly converge. The company is 40 kilometers from Qinhuangdao Port and Qinhuangdao Airport, and 260 kilometers from Tianjin New Port, Beijing Capital International Airport, and Beijing Daxing International Airport. Within its jurisdiction, major railway lines such as the Beijing–Qinhuangdao and Beijing–Harbin railways, along with four expressways—Beijing–Harbin, Beijing–Qinhuangdao, Coastal, and Qinhuangdao–Chengde—provide comprehensive connectivity. Its location is exceptionally advantageous, offering highly convenient transportation access.
The company is a privately owned joint-stock enterprise, founded in 1996. In 2005, it was renamed “Qinhuangdao Yanshan Chestnut Food Co., Ltd.” and, in June 2014, relocated to the Qian’ao Logistics Park in Funing District. The company has a registered capital of RMB 20 million, total assets of approximately RMB 200 million, and occupies a site of 45 mu. It currently employs 70 management and technical personnel, including 4 with master’s degrees, 10 with bachelor’s degrees, and 13 with associate degrees, along with over 600 production workers. The company operates a 13,000-ton fresh chestnut preservation warehouse and a 6,000-ton low-temperature storage facility, annually procuring, storing, and processing more than 13,000 tons of fresh chestnuts. Its production facilities are fully equipped, well‑maintained, and state‑of‑the‑art.
Product sales are split roughly 50% between exports and domestic markets, with Japan accounting for the majority of exports and other Southeast Asian countries serving as supplementary markets. The company has been awarded the “AEON Group” Quality Supplier Certificate on three occasions—in 2014, 2017, and 2019.
In 2003, the company obtained certification for both an organic chestnut cultivation base and an organic chestnut processing base in Japan. In 2009, it secured HALAL international halal certification; in 2015, it received an FCE‑SID registration number from the U.S. FDA; and in 2025, it was awarded USDA organic certification. The company has also achieved ISO 9001:2008 quality management system certification, HACCP system certification, and BRC certification. With its own import‑export license, it has been recognized as a provincial-level leading enterprise in agricultural industrialization.
Over the years, leveraging its deep understanding of the market, the company has segmented its product portfolio and expanded its range to meet the diverse needs of various consumer groups. Since 2001, it has established cooperative relationships with three major Japanese trading companies, with its products primarily exported to Japan and also distributed to Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, Canada, the Middle East, and other regions.
The company’s main products include fresh chestnuts, frozen chestnut kernels, frozen “kai kou xiao” chestnuts, ice‑crystal chestnuts, soft‑packaged canned chestnut kernels, and soft‑packaged french fries.
