Excellent Geographic Conditons

Qinhuangdao has excellent geographic conditions.It lies to the south of Yanshan Mountains and the north of Bohai sea.In its northern mountain area,thick forest covers the high hills. And during the day and night,the temperature difference could reach to 10℃-20℃.The soil is composed of gneiss and rich in gold and iron mine.Hence chestnuts from this area contains many kinds of healthy elements,such as calcium, iron, zinc, selenium,magnesium,etc.

A Long Growing History

Qinhuangdao has a long chestnut growing history. Even as early as 1500 years ago, “Qi Min Yao Shu” wrote “Thousands of chestnut trees on Yan-Qin”. In the Qing Dynasty Emperor Guangxu Period (in 1876),the county annals recorded“ very many chestnut and hazel trees in distant hills".Now Qinhuangdao grows 80 chestnut trees of  more than 1000 years,1600 trees of 500-1000years and 26000 trees of 100—500years.The oldest&biggest chestnut tree is 1.8m in diameter,30m in height, appraised by experts to be more than 1000 years,annually produces chestnuts 80 kgs.
